I’ve been talking with Autonomy/iManage technical support about MS Office 2010 since the beta was released last spring. It appears that Microsoft has changed things in a significant way from Office 2007. So much so, the integration modules Autonomy/iManage uses needed to be completely re-written.
This hasn’t been announced and isn’t official, but support for MS Office 2010 is expected in Autonomy/iManage WorkSite 8.5 SP2. The projection for that release is some time in November of this year. If you are looking at upgrading your office to MS Office 2010, adjust your schedules accordingly.
I got the same information last month (October) when I spoke to them. They actually said the same thing about support for Office 2007 when that came came out. I am not sure why it takes so long to get support for the newest Office suite. Perfectlaw has had support for months already, and they are way smaller a shop than Autonomy.
Have you heard anything recently? It is NOW November. I am only frustrated because Office 2010 is really special. It is a fantastic product and worth the upgrade. I want to give my colleagues the power of Office 2010 as soon as possible.
Another question. Have you tried Worksite on 64 bit Windows 7? Do you know if they support it.
Thanks for your post.
Chris

Has anyone got experience getting Autonomy iManage WorkSite to play nicely with Office 2010?
WorkSite 8.5 SP2 was released in mid-October, and in theory supports Office 2010. But a simple install with Office 2010 gave me no integration at all – it behaved just like WorkSite 8.5 (no SP) in terms of errors and lack of integration.

I’ll be doing my first system upgrade for a client that is looking for Office 2010 compatibility next week and another the week following.
FileSite 8.5 SP2 was released in mid October for Office 2010 support. Other than requiring a WorkSite Server 8.5 SP1 backend with corresponding schema updates, I haven’t seen any other requirements.
I’ll let you know how it goes.

Chris — I’ve recently set up a client with FileSite 8.5 SP1 Update 3 which was installed on a Win 7 – 64Bit laptop and MS Office 2007. The install MSI recognized the 64Bit OS and installed just fine. You do have to be careful in re-using any custom registry sets as they don’t go to the same location as the 32Bit OS.

At this point, has anyone found a solution to this issue?

@John – I’ve had very good luck with the intallation command file I use. The entire client side install is fully automated in a single script.
